Brenda Savanhu

Memorial Stones by Brenda Savanhu takes the reader on a deeply introspective journey of God’s faithfulness. Not shying away from the journey herself, the author gets vulnerable in sharing the moments she recognized God’s hand in her life. Suppose you know anything about the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt. In that case, you know that God instructed them to pick up stones from the middle of the Jordan River, and set them up on the river bank to serve as memorial stones — to remind future generations of how God delivered them.

Savanhu draws the same thread in her life and invites you to do the same. Pick up your memorial stones, and write your story with God today.

My Story

Growing up, I always had a book in hand.  Whether I was curled up on the sofa, sitting in the car or waiting for the bus; reading was my escape.  I  would lose myself in the world of Nancy Drew or the deductive genius of Hercule Poirot in Agatha Christie’s novels.   I found solace in the pages of books. I read so much that I finished reading all the books in my 7th grade classroom library which resulted in my teaching taking me to the school library. The librarians knew me well.

While I didn’t write much outside of homework assignments., I always knew deep down that I was a writer. As I matured into adulthood, I found writing to be therapeutic giving me an outlet to process my feelings and make sense of what I was going through. Writing this book was a pleasant surprise. The idea of memorial stones had rolled around in my head for years, until one night the Lord roused me from sleep and gave me the idea of how to structure and write Memorial Stones. I pray you enjoy it and that it is as healing to you as it was to me.

Author & Speaker

“For many authors, writing is an opportunity to share knowledge, impose opinion guised as perspective, and sometimes, wisdom. This author authentically shares fears, failure, dejection, disappointment, and abandonment. In doing so, Brenda imparts a key to unlock private pain and make room for something extraordinary. Memorial Stones is an invitation to vulnerably consider the tough places in our life journey as stepping stones to the very heart of God.”

Brandi

“This book was a deeply moving experience that touched my heart in unexpected ways. The author’s journey, shaped by the stories behind her personal memorial stones, made me pause and reflect on the significant markers in my own life. As I read each memorial stone, I began to recognize my own, the moments where God’s hand was undeniably present, guiding, comforting, and strengthening me. It reignited my awareness of the milestones in life that shape who I am. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to recognize the beauty of God’s faithfulness in their own story.”

Gia

“Memorial Stones is an inspiring, thoughtfully written and honest account of Brenda’s walk with the Lord thus far.  By sharing her own experiences of the reality of being a follower of Jesus and the reality of giving God your “yes”, Brenda has created a wonderful devotional that will not only encourage anyone who reads it to keep going with God, even when it seems tough, but also to be mindful of all that He does for us despite how things unfold. I highly recommend this devotional to anyone who knows that they need to take stock of what God has done in their lives but needs encouragement and support to do so.”
